Installation artist Tom Kretschmer is a “passionaria of natural phenomena”; at the same time, he plays with nature itself, seeking to make it graspable, transforming and operating with a wide range of media, following its workings, and listening closely into it.
His works research the boundaries and parallels between physics and ecology. The analogue process, and modelling with light, sound, and kinetics, are key design elements — allowing nature to be perceived anew as a kind of poetic biology, to marvel and to let others marvel. In 2019, he received the Andreas Art Prize for his installation “Orbis Ligni”.
