In his large-scale kinetic installations, Berlin-based artist Nils Völker transforms everyday materials and objects into voluminous structures. By multiplying industrial products such as plastic sheeting, plastic bags, or technical toys, he creates expressive, lively artworks. Völker draws on the qualities of ordinary things, reshaping them through serial arrangement and fixed patterns of movement. He models the light, fragile-seeming surfaces of his works using electronics and programming: intangible forms become organic, wave-like motion.
