Martin Messier is one of the defining artists of Québec's art scene and the international art world. In his works, he brings sound, light, and movement into dialogue with one another.
His stagings combine technological elements with natural phenomena such as water, smoke, waves, and electricity. In doing so, he engages with our perception of physical processes, making their manifestations — from the barely perceptible to the monumental — tangible through extraordinary installations and apparatuses.
His performances and installations move between order and chaos, creating a contemplative tension that leads the audience into a synaesthetic, at times almost spiritual, experience.
